I thought it would be a good time to get back to my posts about how we are dealing with the girls sensory processing issues. The holidays do not do good things for children who have trouble with changes in schedule. The past few weeks have been tough. Between my hand surgery, Christmas, time off from school, etc. the girls have been so out of sorts. Not sleeping well, not eating well, tons of meltdowns... rough!
We have been working with their OT at school to come up with some "fixes". One that she recommended that I am loving is our Time Timer. We set it for things like getting ready for school, time before dinner, time til bed or basically any transition (which is something grace struggles with). In the mornings if they are ready before the bell dings they get a gummy tummy (vegan, organic fruit chews from trader joe's).
So far it has been a huge help. I highly recommend it to any parent who loves being on schedule. :D

Might have to check that out. Abs has been struggling so much with the move, then the flu hitting us. We are trying to get back to normal, and she's doing well. But still, it would be good for her and us all probably.
I hope things get better for you guys. It's been rough here too. :)

C - We got the 8" one but it comes in all different sizes/prices. I have to say of all the things we have gotten to deal with SPD this one is a Godsend. In the mornings if we "beat" the times and the girls get a gummy tummy (organic fruit chew/candies from Trader Joe's) it is like they won the lottery. Such a great tool!
We end up using the timer on our microwave when K is dawdling. Maybe something like that would be better because it's so much more visual. Will have to check it out!
