Sorry it took so long for me to post about the shower, it took me yesterday and today to fully recover. :>) It was such a wonderful day and I had such a great time. I slept in late (which was heaven and much needed) and got up to get myself ready. The day before I got my hair blown out and my nails done so I would look pretty. Brian helped me pick out a dress at Babies R Us a couple weeks ago and I loved it. I got showered, dressed, makeup on, jewelry, the whole nine yards. It has been months since I actually got myself dolled up. Around 12:30 my wonderful friend Lisa (and her husband Ed) came over to keep me company. Lisa and I stayed at my house until about 1:30 and we walked over to the hall.
My Mom had rented the community center (which is beautiful) for the afternoon so we had plenty of room. When I walked in I saw this table full of amazing gifts and the room was so beautiful. My Mom, sisters and niece Genna had decorated the room with fresh cut flowers and lots and lots of pink! The food table was setup with trays of food from Wegmans (my fave), an amazingly beautiful cake that my aunt brought and a few fantastic looking desserts that my mother in law had brought. They were all so beautiful. I felt like almost all my friends and family were there, with a few exceptions of people who were just too far away (we missed you guys!).
I ate a little, talked a lot and then settled in to open gifts. I was so blown away by how amazingly generous everyone was. I had heard that when you have twins people really go out of their way to help buy the necessities, but I had no idea how generous everyone was going to be. I got almost everything off my registry, lots of adorable clothes and some amazing personalized things for the girls. (see pics below).
It was so surreal and amazing to be celebrating my shower. I have been to so many showers in my life and often thought I would never have one of my own. Yet there I was surrounded by my friends and my family be showered with love and kindness for my babies and me. I help it together during the shower but it was a very emotional day for me. I am so blessed to be at this stage of my life. It is good to be me.
Here are some pics for those who were too far away to be there.
