They're Here!

Here's the scoop -- I don't have much, for some reason my cell didn't ring, so I just got a voicemail from Brian.

The girls are here! Not sure what time, officially.

Gracie weighs 5lbs 14oz;
Abby weighs 4lbs 14oz.

Both girls are in the NICU right now because of their sugar levels.

Kristen is doing well, all things considered.

Will update when I get more info.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just as I finished typing that, my cell phone rang and it was Kristen herself! So here's more info...
Abby: Born at 9:31am, weighing 4lb 14oz and about 17" long.
Gracie: Born at 9:32am, weighing 5lb 14oz and about 19" long.
Both girls are breathing well on their own and didn't need any oxygen at birth. Their sugar levels are a little high, hence the stay in the NICU. When they were doing the section, they think that Kristen had some cysts rupture so there was more bleeding than they wanted. They ended up calling in the perinatologist as a precaution, but everything is okay now. Kristen has been up once to see the girls but was unable to hold them because she couldn't sit up due to the incision. The nurses told her that she'll be allowed to go back up in the morning and should be able to hold them then. She's a little bummed about that but looks forward to seeing them tomorrow morning. Hopefully the girls will only be in the NICU for 24-48 hours. The nurses are optimistic that they'll be in Kristen's room with her by tomorrow night.
There isn't any internet access at the hospital but Bry is supposed to send me some pics from his camera phone. As soon as I get something, I'll make sure to post them!
WELCOME GRACE & ABBY!! WE'RE SO GLAD YOU'RE HERE SAFE AND SOUND!
WOOHOO!!! Congrats, Kris and Bry, and welcome Abby and Grace!!!
A short stay in the NICU is better than a long stay, but they're the best docs in the world!!!
Can't wait to see pics. Glad to know I can stop bugging Mandy about an update now!
Congratulations! I hope you're all home soon, safe and sound. Can't wait to see the pictures.
Yea! I'm so happy that the girls are here! Good job Kristen! :-)
That really sucks that Kristen wasn't able to hold them yet :-( (That's really strange because I had a C-Section and they let me hold my daughter as they wheeled me out of the operating room...)
Can't wait to see pictures! Rest when you can while you're in the hospital! Praying that the girls get out of NICU ASAP and that Kristen has a speedy recovery!
Nichole ~ I think it was a combination of the girls being whisked to the NICU, the doctors trying to get Kristen's bleeding stopped and Kristen said too she was really out of it during surgery. Bryan had to try to keep her awake. After surgery, I think they want her lying down in bed to make sure the bleeding doesn't start again...
AHHHHH!!!!! They are so super beautiful!! They don't look like newborns to me - their color is really good and they're so bright-eyed. They look VERY healthy. They seem big to me too, for twins. Good job Brian and Kristen - BIG pat on the back! I can't wait to get the detailed story and see some more pics.
About this blog
Over 8 years we have struggled through 3 IUI's, 6 rounds of IVF, several RE's, hundreds of appointments and the loss of three little angels. Now we find ourselves the proud parents of two perfect little girls and a wonderful little boy!!
Both of our girls struggle with some disabilities but that won't keep us down. Each day has it's own brand of insanity but we love it. Most days I am more monkey wrangler than mother but I do the best I can. Todays goal - getting to tomorrow.
