Some of you know about struggles we have had with Abby's motor development. She is almost five months and does not hold up her head, at all. She tries but when she lays on her belly she cannot lift her head. Her head is significantly larger than her body and it very well may be from the ventriculomegaly in utero. She sees a physical therapist (I think I talked about that a month or so ago) and we do her PT at home on our own. She has been making very little progress which has been VERY frustrating for me. Not at her but just that it is so hard for the little thing. She cries and whines whenever we have to do her PT. I know that lots of people have babies more premature than mine and smaller than mine but it is hard. It's hard to watch other people's babies making easy progress while it is tough for your own. Poor Abby has a hard time sitting in her high chair, holding up her noggin, sitting on your lap, pretty much anything that a typical almost 5 month old can do. Lucky for us she sure can smile and laugh. It sure makes us feel better.
Anyway, all that being said...today Bry was doing her morning PT in her crib. She was on her belly with her "blanket roll" under her chest and SHE LIFTED HER HEAD!!!!!!!!!! It wasn't a huge lift but she lifted it several times. It was the most progress we have seen yet. I guess slow and steady is the way for Miss Abs!
WARNING: YOU WILL FIND THE ANNOYING VOICES OF TWO VERY OVER-EXCITED PARENTS. :>) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!
