MRI Complete

The MRI today was both good and bad. Abby couldn't eat any food or formula past 6am. OF COURSE this morning she only took 2 oz and formula and almost no cereal. She had about an ounce of juice at 9 but the girls don't really like juice. When we got to the hospital we waited from 11:30 til 1 before anyone came to get us (us being my Mom and I, Bry stayed home with Gracie who has a cold). They then only came out to tell us that they were 2-3 hours behind. I looked at the lady like what in the hell am I supposed to do with this kid. She hadn't eaten in forever, she was tired and she was miserable. They took us back around 1:30 and told us it would at least be 2:30-3 before they could get to her. They wanted us to keep her awake (while the kid was freaking starving) so she would fall asleep with an oral sedative (meaning no IV). We kept her up and relatively not insane until they finally came after 3. At that point she had gone almost 9 HOURS without eating. She was hysterical when they gave her the nasty tasting sedative. The nurse kept telling me to blow in Abby's face so she couldn't breath and would have to swallow. I was already close to tears so I am thinking 'you do it, damn it.' She ended up throwing up the medicine so they thought they would have to give her more. Thank goodness she fell to sleep.

The test was 50-55 minutes and after 45 minutes they brought her out. They told me she woke up at the end of the test in the MRI machine and threw a fit. I am thinking great, you people didn't sedate her enough so she was traumatized. Once they gave her back they had a doc look at the MRI and thankfully they had gotten enough. I was able to feed her and rock her to sleep. They said she would probably be floppy for 8 hours and sleepy for 24. Within 20 minutes she was awake, smiling and laughing. She is one heck of a trooper!

OMG! Could she be any cuter?? It looks like she's correctly expressing her opinion on waiting that long for the MRI in the 1st picture. And those glasses?? Too freakin' cute!

I'm glad that she made it through alright yesterday. It sucks that you had to wait so long. Hopefully you will get the results quickly.

About this blog

Over 8 years we have struggled through 3 IUI's, 6 rounds of IVF, several RE's, hundreds of appointments and the loss of three little angels. Now we find ourselves the proud parents of two perfect little girls and a wonderful little boy!!

Both of our girls struggle with some disabilities but that won't keep us down. Each day has it's own brand of insanity but we love it. Most days I am more monkey wrangler than mother but I do the best I can. Todays goal - getting to tomorrow.
