Ok, so I am not a big conspiracy theorist but sometimes in my sleep deprived haze I concoct some pretty hair brained ideas. They can range from a crazy invention to a political theory. I had one last week and I shared it with Brian. He said I should post it just in case it is true. ;>) I doubt I am the only person to have thought of this but I swear I did arrive at this crazy conclusion on my own.
So… you know how the car companies are giving these deals where they guarantee your gas will only cost $2.99 a gallon for a few years? Well it got me to thinking that what if this was a conspiracy with oil companies. The car companies continue to make gas guzzling cars. They may offer hybrids and other alternates but they are so freaking expensive the average person can't afford it. Anyway, The oil prices go up, the car companies make these deals, people buy new cars then if the gas prices go back down the companies don’t have to make good on their offer. If gas is cheaper then you won’t need the $2.99 deal. Maybe the care companies are in cahoots with the oil companies and it is one big trick.
I know it isn’t terribly well thought out and it may be me just wishing that gas would be more affordable since I drive a mini-van. I just thought it might be worth a chuckle or two of what goes through my head when I don’t get enough sleep.

I'm a bigger fan of the theory that gas prices go down near elections because it increases the approval ratings of republicans...
I think the car companies are just smart, offering the gas deals to get people to buy but knowing that the oil prices can't hold so high because demand is dropping. Plus you give the gas deal and then up the interest rate on the loan and you end up making just as much money.
