Going to work

Since the girls were little I have had a job. It is the same job I took in order to have time for multiple rounds of infertility treatments and the same job I had when I was pregnant. When I had the girls one of the colleges I taught at offered me the same amount of classes but teaching them online (from home!!!). Obviously I jumped at the chance. Being able to keep my "foot in the door" while also staying home with my kids seemed like a dream situation. I quickly found out that working from home posed many, many problems when you are juggling two kids and over a hundred students... and some days I don't know which is whinier.

Over the past three years there have been ups and downs. All in all I love my job. I love that I HAVE a job in this day and age. I love contributing financially to my family and I love contributing something to the "greater good" as a teacher. The second best part of my job (second only to seeing my kids all day) is NEVER having to go into the office. Literally in the past three years I have been on campus three or four times. Most of those times have been to pick up books or sign papers. It has been awesome.

Tomorrow, for the first time in three years I have to show up at work, dressed, makeup on, briefcase and laptop in hand and do something worky. Now all I have to do is sit through a two hour meeting for the Distance Learning department but I find myself with a stomach full of butterflies. I am great at communicating with my students but I have all but forgotten how to interact with my colleagues and my boss (other than phone or e-mail). I know it will be a breeze and it might even be fun to pretend I am a normal grown up with a normal job ( :D ). It has been a long time since I had nerves over work.

You'll have fun! Just hum the theme song to 9-5 as you're walking to the meeting. And get a BIG fancy coffee drink. I miss that stuff alot since being a SAHM. I actually wish I could do some dress-up worky stuff...without the actual work. Maybe just work lunches.

About this blog

Over 8 years we have struggled through 3 IUI's, 6 rounds of IVF, several RE's, hundreds of appointments and the loss of three little angels. Now we find ourselves the proud parents of two perfect little girls and a wonderful little boy!!

Both of our girls struggle with some disabilities but that won't keep us down. Each day has it's own brand of insanity but we love it. Most days I am more monkey wrangler than mother but I do the best I can. Todays goal - getting to tomorrow.
