Just when we thought we were "in the clear" with all of the hysterics about school we got thrown another curveball (actually, two). The girls catching a cold didn't help anything. It made them both much whinier and more annoying than usual. But what set Grace off again was the beginning of therapy at school. They don't start OT, PT and speech immediately at our school. They allow the kids some time to get used to being at school before they start inundating them with new challenges to overcome. I was thrilled about that idea. I figured that since the girls were doing so well, adding therapy would be a breeze... right?
Wrong! Grace was so upset about Abby leaving the room for PT that she cried the entire time. Then when she had to leave the room for speech she cried the whole session. Therapy started last Monday and she cried every session last week (FOUR!) and then again today. I get it. An adult you don't really know taking your sister away from you and then taking you to a room, alone, in a strange situation. For a kid who can't handle change this is a lot to handle. I am hoping she adjusts soon as she gets to know her therapists better.
Thankfully Abby has done great with this change. She cried the first day but has settled in nicely. I am so glad I am only contending with one distraught kid. :D
I am also thankful that despite being upset during therapy sessions Grace still loved school. She loves her preschool teach and the classroom aides. She loves her classmates. I think she has even learned to like the bus. Little by little we're getting there.

Poor Gracie! Hopefully she gets accustomed to therapy soon and it isn't so hard on her. Since she likes school as much as she does, this could be another hurdle that is easily over come.
