Over the weekend I sat down to try to think of something fun for us to do. More snow was expected and I am sick of the same old snow activities. So I decided that it might be fun to go to a movie. We haven't seen one in months and the last movie we saw the girls did awesome.
So I went to fandango and plugged in our zip. Would you believe that in the three closest theaters (I didn't even bother continuing to look since they are BIG theaters) not one of them was playing a movie rated lower than PG-13. Perhaps it is commentary on who goes to the movies and the time of year. To me it was sad commentary on the state of our morality. From the checking I did almost 75% of the movies in the theater were rated R.
Now I am not looking to dumb down movies... to each their own. If horror or gore or whatever is your thing that that's your business. But how bad is it when you don't have ONE FAMILY MOVIE OPTION? Where has the family focus gone???

It IS the time of year. The family movies will start coming out again in the spring. Except for Gnomeo & Juliet. That opens this weekend. But I know what you mean. The twins love going to the movies, but there aren't any age-appropriate movies out right now.
