Recently I was reading a blog I enjoy when I came across a story of a little boy battling cancer and in great need of a bone marrow match. The blog post linked to The Bone Marrow Donor Program. Since cancer has become such a new reality for my family I clicked the link and decided I would join.
It took about five minutes to sign up to become a match. It asked minimal questions and cost me nothing. Today I received my donor kit in the mail. It was nothing more than four mouth swaps. It took me all of five more minutes to complete the kit, package it up and put it in the mail.
I strongly urge you to consider becoming a bone marrow donor. The likelihood is that you will never be matched BUT IF YOU DO think of what you could do for another person.
Be The Match

I've been on the list for several years. :-) Make sure to let them know you are PG :-) Because you can't donate marrow while pg.. they will put you back in the list 6 months after your LO is born :-) I had to make sure to let then know when I was pg with Lydia.
Jara- I did! Actually they asked it on the screening form. :) awesome that you're on the list. Imagine If everyone who could signed up...
My chairi prevents me from donating blood or marrow. Stupid brain surgery. ;)
M - That sucks! I did notice quite a few disqualifiers. Both of my parents are excluded (they both have/had cancer). Just encourage Cris to give on your behalf. :D
