Yesterday morning we started off fairly quiet. Up at our usual 7:30 and took it slow. The girls started their Spring Break so we had no where we had to be. We decided to head to Target for some last minute Easter items and to get a head start on Mothers Day (trying to nail some things down before Baby is here). Initially we were fine. Got them pretzels, settled into an enormous "child" cart (the ones that resemble tractor trailers) and started shopping.
Within ten minutes Grace settled into meltdown #1 of the day. They have been particularly bad lately but we usually don't have a problem in stores. Not today! I trudged through the trip as quick as we could and got almost everything. She cried through the checkout and the girl looked like she wanted to murder us.
We got to the car I got them both buckled in and the bags put in the van when Grace announced that she had lost her Lamby (a stuffed animal my Mom gave her and has been acting as a much needed soothie lately). I wanted to kill her. I got them both back out and headed in praying we would find him quickly.
We retraced the ENTIRE first trip and no Lamby. We went to customer service... again... no Lamby. No one was all that helpful either. At this point Grace is SOBBING about her lost friend, Abby is crying because she is thirsty and every patron at the store is staring at us. We began our second trip around the store and I stopped to give Abby a sip of the bottled soda I bought to calm my stomach on the way home. I opened the cap and it exploded ALL OVER the floor. At this point I want to cry. Everyone around watches as I (at 8 1/2 months pregnant) clean the floor with every tissue and wet wipe in my purse.
At this point I want to run to the car and scream but I know that losing Lamby will lead to several more meltdowns in the coming days (which they have off for the holiday and Spring Break). I know he has to be there so we begin again. I have a thought and head for the Easter section. Sure enough, shoved amongst the stuffed animals for sale is little Lamby. Someone must have picked him up and "restocked" him.
Thankfully the story had a happy ending so now I can laugh but by the time I got home my blood pressure was us to 145/100. So much for keeping the BP low. :D
Praying for calmer waters this weekend!
