This morning was Jack's six month visit with the pediatrician. We knew the little monkey was not setting the world on fire in terms of growth or development but I was a little disappointed at how concerned our (usually unconcerned) doctor was. He has fallen from 50th percentile for weight to the 6th (15 pounds 4.8 ounces) and from the 31st percentile in height to the 5th (25.2"). She was also concerned that he is not rolling over, sitting up or wanting to crawl.
The development I am NOT concerned about. I have raised a child who is missing milestones because of a true developmental issue. Jack is merely the most laid back, happy baby that has ever lived. Why the heck does he need to roll over or sit up when the world is so dang amusing from the laying position. :D
The weight gain is slightly more concerning. Mostly because I am nursing and I want to be sure he is getting enough milk. That being said he eats like a champ, poops up a storm and eats his fair share of cereal, fruit and veggies. I did explain that we have very small children but since they are twins it isn't the best gauge. I also tend to argue (and hopefully this doesn't make me a nutty Mom) that because we eat organic and skip preservatives and hormones in our food that we make smaller humans.
So for now we are staying on top of his eating. We're going to invest in a food mill of some sort to make some of the food the doc recommended. We are upping his tummy time and encouraging rolling. Beyond that we waiting to see what happens over the next month. She is having me bring him back in in a month to see what progress he has made. We shall see...
