Follow Up Appointment

This morning Brian and I went to the hospital to have our follow up ultrasound and perinatologist appointment. Even though we got the relief we needed from our appoinment at CHOP last week, we still worried that Dr. Gloom and Doom might put a negative slant on it. We made it to the hospital through the snow at waited the usual 45 minutes. The sonographer (Jane) was very nice and got started taking all the measurements. Abby's dilation was still at 11mm (down from 14 four weeks ago) and Grace still has one kidney (obviously).

They took lots of measurements and then the doc and a resident came in. I wondered how he would be and if he would be offended that we already did the appointment at CHOP. He was just the opposite. He was very happy that things were going so well. He admitted that he didn't expect this outcome. He said that the brain is a "big black box" of the unknown and we will probably never know what happened. Most importantly he said that our story is a "happy ending" and sent us back to our original perinatologist.

He too felt that both the dilation and the one kidney were going to be just fine. So now we are completely relieved and feel like we have been given the all clear. We both know just how lucky we are to have an outcome like this.

Glad the appt went well and Dr. Gloom and Doom had such a good outlook on the results from CHOP. Got any pics to show us from today?? ;)

Yay that Doom and Gloom surprised you!!! I think your decision on the amnio is a good one too. Your girls are strong and that dilation is going to keep shrinking, I just know it!

About this blog

Over 8 years we have struggled through 3 IUI's, 6 rounds of IVF, several RE's, hundreds of appointments and the loss of three little angels. Now we find ourselves the proud parents of two perfect little girls and a wonderful little boy!!

Both of our girls struggle with some disabilities but that won't keep us down. Each day has it's own brand of insanity but we love it. Most days I am more monkey wrangler than mother but I do the best I can. Todays goal - getting to tomorrow.
