Because of Abby's developmental delays and issues it has become necessary that she wear a soft helmet (we call it her bonnet) during her play time. She is starting to pull herself up but her balance and tone continue to be very poor. Her therapist fears an inevitable concussion so to avoid this a helmet has become necessary. I had a lot of ogeda about putting a helmet on my kid but we gotta do what we gotta do.
It figures that the day the bonnet arrived (and saved several bruises) my Mom and I took the girls to lunch. We were talking to this nice waitress and she was telling us about her teenage daughter. She was saying how she can sometimes do dopey things and her words were "she can be a real dummy, not like she needs a helmet or anything...". My Mom and I just looked at each other. I almost said something to be funny but thought it wouldn't come off as very funny so I kept my mouth shut. Personally I think the kid is damn cute in it:

Awe! She looks adorable in her little bonnet!
It never ceases to amaze me how straightforward, unabashed and stupid some people are! I know it's hard but don't let them get to you. Abby needs you to be strong!
I think she is beautiful in her bonnet :D
