This week our amazing speech therapist came up with the most amazing idea that I have to share. We have been working on giving the people around Grace context for her speech. Meaning I know what she is talking about because I am always with her. If she saw a dog at the park, so did I. So when later in the day she is talking about a big brown dog I know what she means but Brian or someone else might not. So we are looking for ways to create context.
Cathy came and suggested that we make an Experience Journal for each of the girls. Each day we will add to our journal (which is just a marble notebook) with pictures that we draw or cut out of magazines and a few words about what we do each day. It could be simple stuff like doing therapy. Or if we went to lunch at McDonald's we could paste in a french fry wrapper. Little stuff that when Brian comes home from work they can show him what we did.
I love this idea! It is awesome for her speech but how cool will it be someday to have a record of what you did with your days when you were 3. I think it is a great idea for any preschooler!
