Perspective

I awoke this (birthday) morning at 7 o'clock to the annoying sounds of a three-year-old who has some personal vendetta against sleep. I groggily walked into her room and told her it wasn't time to get up yet. I knew it was futile but hey, I was tired. I knew I was done for when as soon as I walked back into my room I head "ring around the rosie" being sung off key. I got myself up, dressed, teeth brushed and ready to start the day... way too early.

As I walked downstairs "it's my party and I can cry if I want to" was ringing in my ears. I had decided that my birthday was surely going to suck. This waking up too early was a sign. I gave myself permission to be grumpy on my birthday. It is after all, my birthday.

I went into the kitchen and started pouring milk. When I turned around I noticed a card AND a beautiful cast iron skillet sitting on the counter. I have wanted one for quite a while and this was a really, really good one. I smiled, called a thank you to my husband (who had left it there) and read my card. It was so sweet my eyes teared. Ok, so maybe this day isn't going to be a complete bust.

Just when I feel the smile creeping across my face my wonderful husband hands me a white jewelry box. The white gold and diamond (and by diamonds I mean cubics... the thought of losing diamonds has always made me nervous) earrings I wanted!!! And there you have it... perspective. It's all about perspective. From the day of grumpiness I had planned for myself to a big smile. So thank you to my husband for giving me the start to my day that I needed. Funny how a day can turn around so quickly.

Yay, happy birthday!
I'm terribly guilty myself of preparing myself for an awful day...but those little moments where it turns around, are priceless. (and remind me that maybe things are so terrible after all!) :)

I hope you have a lovely day!!

Happy Birthday! I hope the rest is as enjoyable as the part that started in the kitchen.

About this blog

Over 8 years we have struggled through 3 IUI's, 6 rounds of IVF, several RE's, hundreds of appointments and the loss of three little angels. Now we find ourselves the proud parents of two perfect little girls and a wonderful little boy!!

Both of our girls struggle with some disabilities but that won't keep us down. Each day has it's own brand of insanity but we love it. Most days I am more monkey wrangler than mother but I do the best I can. Todays goal - getting to tomorrow.
