we knew she was coming and we did our best to prepare. We prepped for the worst and hoped for the best. Irene came with a flourish and promptly knocked out our power. Thankfully we had our batteries, flashlights, etc. on standby so we made it fairly easily through the night. Having to listen to the winds and rain go crazy all night made it VERY difficult to sleep. We "woke up" (as if we slept) the next morning and still had no power.
We spent the day at my Moms... who oddly enough had power all night (she lives literally around the corner). She gave us all the ice she had to load our fridge and freezer so we didn't lose our food. It wasn't until after dinner that we got our power back on. I have never been so happy in all my life to see my lights all ablaze when no one was home. :D
Thankfully we're almost cleaned up. We still have lots of branches and leaves to pick up but we were lucky.
