OB Today - C-Section

I saw the OB this morning and things look good. No weight gain (holding fast below 40 lbs), good Blood Pressure, sugars look great (in fact they were impressed with my ability to keep them so stable). I am still measuring about 47 weeks pregnant, which explains the inability to walk for more than a few minutes.

One of the important things we did accomplish was to talk about the c-section date. Even though I am carrying twins they won't schedule until 38 or 39 weeks. The doc explained that they follow very strictly the American Academy of Obstetrics (or some such) guidelines on scheduling sections even in the case of twins. They anticipate I will probably go before then, but won't schedule ahead of time. What they expect to happen is to take each NST appointment and then weigh out the risks and benefits of keeping them in longer. They plan to take my case NST by NST. The doc said that at some point I will probably fail an NST or something will look off and they will do the section the same day. So for now we play it day by day. She did say that I have hit the magic number of 34 weeks so if labor starts they will not try to stop it.

It is a little wierd thinking I could go to one of these appointments by myself thinking it is just any old day and end up delivering that same day. I guess I should throw my hospital bag in the car or something to prepare.

(And Emilie - I second the handsome nurses to carry me around. :>) Hehe)

Mine wasn't exactly like that but close... I went to my 37 week regular check up (it was on a Friday) and I had high blood pressure and protein in my urine so my doctor scheduled me to be induced three days later. I think my husband had prepared himself for having another 2-3 weeks before our daughter was born because he was as white as a ghost when I told him that we'd have a baby in three days! Funny how quickly things happen toward the end of pregnancy! I agree with you - better get that bag in the car! I'm so excited for you! I'm definitely praying that your bundles of joy are perfectly healthy and won't need any NICU time!

Okay, how in the world are you managing to not gain?!?!?! I'm at 30 lbs. gained now and 26.5 weeks!!! My goal is to stay below 50 (45 if I can do it) but it just seems to creep up on me; I don't feel like I am eating any more than usual.
Sounds like things are going well; that is wonderful!

About this blog

Over 8 years we have struggled through 3 IUI's, 6 rounds of IVF, several RE's, hundreds of appointments and the loss of three little angels. Now we find ourselves the proud parents of two perfect little girls and a wonderful little boy!!

Both of our girls struggle with some disabilities but that won't keep us down. Each day has it's own brand of insanity but we love it. Most days I am more monkey wrangler than mother but I do the best I can. Todays goal - getting to tomorrow.
